I’m an adoptee who wondered about my natural family all my life. It took me until I was nearly 40 to gather the guts to go and search for my mother and then, two years later, for my father. Being in reunion has changed my life, for the better.
My TED Talk is about one of the many things I learned from my mindfulness practice and from being in reunion with my natural parents.
Podcast links are connected to books, writing, and adoption.
I spoke with Simon Benn at Thriving Adoptees about navigating reunion, coaching adoptees, limiting beliefs, and healing. Jaime Alejandro Cruz at Arts Calling was so gracious in allowing me space to talk about my new novel, When the Ocean Flies, focusing on fiction vs memoir, mindfulness, and writing beyond trauma. Jennifer Dyan Ghoston and I had a wide-ranging conversation on Once Upon a Time in Adopteeland, including intergenerational grief, the ways in which infant adoptees skip the business of being and, instead of fully developing a sense of self, develop the habit of meeting others’ needs, and When the Ocean Flies.
There are more on my schedule. I’ll update this page as they become available. I’m grateful to these wonderful podcasters for sharing their space with me.
